What is “WEEE”?

The term WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. The corresponding WEEE directive is the European directive for waste electrical and electronic equipment. It lays down the basic rules applicable to the placing on the market, return and disposal of electrical and electronic equipment in each country of the European Union.

What is “WEEE” supposed to achieve?

The aim of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act is to avoid waste from electrical and electronic equipment in order to protect the environment or to reduce it by reuse and recycling.

How do I know if a company applies the “EU Directive WEEE 2012/19"?

Any company that implements this standard and has been successfully registered for ”WEEE” by a recognized body will therefore receive a “WEEE registration number", which must be visible on all business documents as well as on the company website.
