600 to 1200W power supplies have full MoPPs isolation, low acoustical noise and PMBus™ communication

Posted : 27 Jun 2018

TDK Corporation (TSE 6762) announces the introduction of the TDK-Lambda brand QS series of single output medical and industrial AC-DC power supplies. Rated at 600 to 1200W output power, these high efficiency products utilise low speed fan cooling, significantly reducing acoustical noise. The QS series has been certified to both medical and industrial safety standards and are suitable for a wide range of applications, including BF rated medical equipment, test and measurement, broadcast, communications and renewable energy applications.

Operating from a wide range 90 to 264Vac input, the QS is available with three standard output voltages: 12V, 24V and 48V. The QS5 delivers 600W, the QS5H can deliver between 1080 to 1200W with an input voltage of 180Vac or greater and 700W below 180Vac.  The QS7 is rated at 1200W over the full input voltage range. An optional standby/signal can be selected with a choice of one or two 5V standby voltages, unit inhibit or unit enable and a PMBus™ interface.

Overall case dimensions for the QS5 models are 127 x 63.3 x 270mm (W x H x D) and 176 x 63.3 x 270mm for the QS7. The QS5 has an optional IEC320 input connector, in place of a screw terminal block, for quick and easy connection.  The units will operate in ambient temperatures of -20 to +70°C, derating the output power and output current by 2.5% per °C above 50°C.  The QS series is covered by a seven-year warranty.

The units are certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES 60601‑1, IEC/EN 61010‑1, IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives. With an input to output isolation of 4,000Vac (2 x MoPPs), 1.500Vac input to ground (1 x MoPP) and 1,500Vac (1 x MoPP) output to ground, the series can be used in BF rated medical equipment. The QS has a maximum earth leakage current of 300µA, while still complying with the EN61000-6-3:2007 and EN60601-1-2:2015 (curve B conducted and radiated) emission standards.  The units also meet the EN60601-1-2 and EN61000-6-2 immunity standards.
