Lambda tailors cost to power with new additions to din-rail power family

Posted : 01 Nov 2003

Lambda has added two new models to its ‘lead-free’ DLP series of DIN-rail mounted AC-DC supplies. New 100W and 180W units boost the DLP line-up which spans a power range from 75 to 240W giving more cost effective choice to designers. These versatile units address an array of applications such as factory automation, industrial control and test and measurement equipment.

DIN-rail is fast becoming the preferred choice of mounting equipment in control panels. With its compact size, high efficiency, low heat generation and long life, the very competitively priced DLP is the ideal solution. Input voltage is 85-265V AC (47-63Hz) for both 100W and 180W units, with the additional option of 120-370V DC on the DLP180-24-1/E. Output voltage for all models is 24V. Output current is 4.1A for the DLP100-24-1/E and 7.5A for the larger DLP180-24-1/E.

Maximum efficiency is 87%, and power density is up to an impressive 0.21W/cm³. Compact dimensions, up to 17% smaller than competing units, makes the DLP ideal in areas where space is at a premium. The units have a common height and depth of 97 x 110mm. The DLP100-24-1/E is 60mm wide and weighs 540g, while the DLP180-24-1/E is 80mm wide and weighs 780g.

The new supplies have built-in overcurrent and overvoltage protection and are fitted with a red alarm LED giving operators an immediate warning should the output drop below 20V. Convection cooling is employed over an operating temperature range of –10 to +50ºC at full load, derating to 60% at +60ºC.

The new DLP units are CE marked in accordance with the Low Voltage Directive and comply with a wide range of worldwide safety standards including UL and CSA. The units comply with conducted and radiated EMI, Class B requirements and carry input transient protection, IEC61000-4 certification. The 100W model is NEC Class 2 compliant and the 180W model PFC compliant to EN61000-3-2.

Extremely rugged, the new DLP series of ‘fit and forget’ DIN-rail mounted power supplies are highly reliable with a long-lifetime expectancy. They are supplied with a 3-year warranty.
