TDK-Lambda wins prestigious Elektra industry award

Posted : 19 Dec 2011

TDK-Lambda UK, a group company of the TDK Corporation, is delighted to announce that its EFE400M digitally-controlled medical power supply has been named Power System Product of the Year at the Elektra 2011 European Electronics Industry Awards. The prestigious industry award was presented at a ceremony held in the Park Plaza Hotel in central London.

The Elektra Awards, run by leading industry magazine Electronics Weekly, gives the electronics industry the opportunity to recognise the achievements of individuals and companies across Europe. About winning the award Martin Southam, Marketing Director for TDK-Lambda EMEA, said: “World-class design and engineering remains strong in the UK and the Elektra awards inspire manufacturers to excel in their field. It is an honour for TDK-Lambda to receive the Power System Product of the Year Award for the EFE400M medical power supply – testament to our leadership in power supply design.”

Designed and developed in the UK, the EFE400M meets the stringent safety requirements of the Medical market and is also suitable for Instrumentation, Communications and Broadcast markets. Often manufacturers require the power supply’s characteristics to be modified to suit the end application; with the EFE400M’s digital control these requirements are met more easily through software rather than hardware changes. In addition, the power supply is more efficient, smaller, runs cooler and more feature rich, consistent with the demand for environmentally-friendly products.

The EFE range is now being successfully manufactured in UK, China and Japan with sales to major manufacturers worldwide. The UK EFE design team was also recognised for its pioneering work in 2010 with a TDK President’s Technology award – the first time such an award has been given to a TDK Group company outside of Japan.
