Lambda has extended the appeal of its PAF range of “full-brick” DC-DC converters with the introduction of new 700W versions. Armed with an industry leading power density of 7.74W/cm³, the new PAF700F48 series combines compact size, low noise and high efficiency to provide an ideal solution for high-power needs in applications such as large computer and telecom base station power architectures.
Lambda's business development manager, Dave Buck comments: “Delivering 700W from a compact, highly-efficient full brick design means that the new PAF70048 series meets today’s market demands for ever more powerful converters in 'standard' footprints. Thanks to its innovative combination of ASIC control with zero voltage switching (ZVS) technology, the PAF series is able to achieve three times the power density of more conventional converters.”
The PAF70048 series currently offers two variants: one with a 12Voutput and maximum output current of 58.5A, the other providing a 28Voutput and a maximum output current of 25A. The wide range voltage adjustment of -40 to +15& allows a broad range of non-standard voltages to be achieved. Power efficiency is 91&. Nominal input voltage is 48V DC over a 36 to 76V DC range. Over-current protection is from 105 to 140& and over-voltage protection is from 115 to 135%. Both units can be connected in series or parallel, providing the flexibility of a wide variety of configuration options. Features include remote sensing, remote on/off and IOG signal.
The conduction-cooled converters are designed for tough operating conditions with an operating temperature range of –40 to 100ºC and operating humidity of 20 to 95& RH. Global safety standards carried include UL1950, CSA950 and EN60950.
