LAMBDA HAS TOUGH SUPPLIES FOR INDUSTRY

Posted : 07 Jul 2006

Designed to deliver high reliability even in harsh operating conditions, single-output industrial power supplies in the new LZSa series from Lambda combine rugged mechanical construction with an enhanced thermal design that allows them to operate over the exceptionally wide temperature range of -40ºC to +71ºC. The units also meet the demanding vibration- and shock-withstand requirements of MIL-STD-810E and are backed by Lambda’s 5 year warranty.

The new RoHS compliant supplies are available now in 500W versions with a nominal 24V DC output, and later in higher power versions with either 12V or 24V outputs, making them suitable for use in a wide range of industrial automation and process control applications.

The LZSa series operates from inputs in the range 85V to 265Vac, 47Hz to comprehensive transient protection is standard which, in almost all cases, makes external filtering unnecessary. Immunity compliance includes IEEE C62.41 (6kV ringwave) and hold up meets SEMI F47 at 100V ac input.

To enhance safety in automation applications, LZSa power supplies incorporate an opto-coupled transistor output which confirms that the DC voltage is good. This can be used to positively inhibit the operation of the automation system if the voltage is, for any reason, out of tolerance. LED indicators are also provided to give instant visual confirmation of the power supply’s status. Other features include AC fail signal, current sharing and synchronisation input.

The LZSa power supply output is user adjustable, from 18V to 29.4Vdc. This wide range of adjustment greatly reduces the need for customised power supplies in non-standard applications. Remote voltage sensing is also supported, making it easy to compensate for voltage drop in long wiring runs.

Lambda LZSa-series power supplies have input/output isolation rated at 4,242V DC and carry a wide range of safety approvals, including UL60950-1, UL508, EN60950-1, FM3600, FM3611 and FM3810. The units also comply with EN55022/EN55011 Class B and EN61000-3-3 for emissions, and they are CE marked
