TDK Corporation (TSE 6762) is pleased to announce that TDK-Lambda UK has been ‘Highly Commended’ at the British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs) again this year for encouraging and supporting young people to become our future engineers. Organised by the nationally renowned engineering magazine, Eureka, and its electronics counterpart, New Electronics, the BEEAs celebrate the very best in British engineering.
“Since the beginning of our STEM programme, in 2013, we have made it our mission to break down the barriers and facilitate a wider uptake of young people studying and moving towards a career within engineering and science,” says Phil Scotcher, Joint Managing Director, TDK-Lambda UK. “Engineering and management staff across all areas of our business are passionate about engaging with teachers, parents and students in North Devon. Being Highly Commended in the Engineering Ambassador of the Year category at this year’s BEEAs is testament to the continued dedication and success of our team. Well done to everyone!”
TDK-Lambda has 25 employees engaged in STEM/School activities, with five STEM Ambassadors, and expects that more STEM Ambassadors will join the scheme in the future.
The power supply manufacturer works directly with around 300 young people each year on various different events, programmes and projects. If open events are included, such as careers events, talks and Big Bang, which attract hundreds of young people, this figure would be much higher.
