Leading power supply manufacturer Lambda announces a SMT version of its successful PSS and PSD series of ultra compact single and dual DC-DC converters for mounting on printed circuit boards (PCBs). The new SMT versions are ideal for applications where reduction of size and weight are critical which, combined with their extensive features, makes them particularly suitable for the telecommunications, datacommunications and instrumentation sectors.
The converters can accept a range of input voltages and are fully self-contained, requiring no external components and allowing easier system integration. The range offers 48 different models in the single output PSS series range and 20 models in the dual output PSD series range. Both series are available in 5V, 12V, 24V and 48V input versions, each with a nominal output voltage of 3.3V, 5.0V, or 12/15V, and with output currents ranging from 0.4A to 2.5A depending on the model selected.
The converters have been specially designed to have a compact footprint and a low profile, ensuring that they take up the lowest possible PCB area and allowing designers to make maximum use of the circuit board. They are light in weight and open frame, and are fully compliant with the EU RoHS Directive on lead-free soldering.
The units operate with an output voltage accuracy of +/-5%, with a typical efficiency of 73-84%, depending on the model chosen. The dimensions of the PSS and PSD series range from 20x16x8mm up to 41x26x8.5mm.
