The demand for DIN-rail power supplies continues to increase rapidly with the onus on rugged, highly compact and highly efficient units. With this in mind Lambda, the world’s number one power solutions specialist, has developed the DLP series, a brand new family of DIN-rail mounted AC-DC supplies aimed specifically at factory automation, industrial control and test and measurement applications.
Martin Southam, Lambda European Marketing Director comments: “With DIN-rail becoming the preferred choice of mounting equipment in control panels so the demand for units like the DLP is growing significantly. Compact size, high efficiency, low heat generation and long life are all essential and in the new DLP we have a product that meets all of these requirements.”
With a maximum efficiency of 87%, power density of up to 0.21W/cm³ and compact dimensions up to 17% smaller than competing units, the new DLP sets new standards for 24V DC DIN-rail power supplies. In all, three models are being launched with output powers of 75, 120 and 240W. Output currents range from 3.1A on the DLP75-24 to 10A on the DLP240-24. Input voltage covers the range 85 to 264AC. The new supplies are fitted with a red alarm LED giving operators an immediate warning should a short circuit of the load occur.
The new DLP units have a common height and depth of 97 x 110mm. They range in width from 50mm for the 75W unit to 120mm for the 240W supply. Operating temperature range is –10 to +50ºC at full load derating to 60% at +60ºC. DLP units are CE marked in accordance with the Low Voltage Directive and comply with a wide range of worldwide safety standards including UL CSA and EN60950, UL508 and EN50178.
From October 2003 the DLP will be manufactured as ‘Lead Free’ to satisfy emerging legislation.
