Ministry of Defence chooses Lambda Genesys™ for power reliability

Geplaatst : 27 Sep 2004

Lambda UK has secured a major contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Lambda will supply a range of general-purpose programmable power supply units to the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force for use in ground-based support stations maintaining electronic and electrical equipment.

The MoD has stringent requirements for quality, reliability, ease of use and value for money. As part of its thorough technical evaluation and selection process the MoD carried out rigorous testing of Lambda’s products, at actual user sites and over several months.

The products specified by the MoD are from Lambda’s Genesys™ range of 1U high 1500W rack or bench mounted power supplies, which can be controlled locally via the front panel or remotely via analogue or digital interfaces. The digital interfaces provided are RS232, RS485 and IEEE-488. The front panel voltage and current controls are digital encoders and there are no adjustment potentiometers internally because calibration is carried out under software control. This contributes to long term stability and repeatability. The output ranges required by the MoD include output currents up to 50A and output voltages up to 400V.

The contract is for the supply of over 2000 units.
